Why a code didn’t work — and how CodyPick lists codes
Welcome. I’m Cody Bey, and I know the moment well: you copy the code, paste it into the discount field, and the store answers with a refusal or a smaller discount than you expected. Most of the time the code isn’t broken; a condition simply wasn’t met. A discount code is a small agreement with terms attached. This guide walks through the most common terms, then explains how CodyPick lists codes and why you can trust what you see here.
Common reasons a code is rejected
The discount cap
Many codes give a percentage with a ceiling. Styli’s Z44 has a maximum discount of 50 SAR/AED, and Cartlow’s H32 gives 15% up to 30 SAR/AED. On a bigger basket the discount stops at the cap, so it looks smaller than the headline percentage, even though the code is working exactly as agreed.
Full-price items only
Some codes don’t cover sale items at all. H&M has a clear example: VX3P gives 10% off full-price items only, while V3RX gives 5% off everything, full-price and already discounted. If your basket is all sale items, VX3P won’t help.
New customers only
Some codes are for a first order or first use. Jeeny‘s ka70 in Saudi Arabia, for example, is for your first ride only. Sometimes a code isn’t refused but applies at a lower rate for existing customers, as with the noon code in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, or United Pharmacy’s N16, which gives 10% on the first use and 5% on every use after that.
App only
Styli‘s Z44 works in the Styli app only. Paste it on the website in a browser and it won’t go through; finish the order in the app instead.
Wrong country
Codes work in specific countries. noon is a good example: D3z is for Egypt only, and b3w is for the Gulf. Always check which country the store is set to before judging the code.
Minimum basket
Cartlow‘s H32 needs a basket of at least 150 SAR/AED and can be used once per customer. Below that amount, or on a second use, it will be refused.
Product exclusions
United Pharmacy‘s N16 doesn’t work if the basket contains only baby milk or diapers. Level Shoes‘ DZC95 applies only to items marked with a star, so other items in the basket aren’t discounted.

How CodyPick lists codes
We’d rather explain how we work than ask for your trust without a reason.
- Where codes come from: our codes come from the affiliate partner network we work with. We show each code with its terms as we received them, without dressing them up.
- One page per store per country: each store has its own page for each country, and a code appears only on the pages of countries where it works. So noon Saudi Arabia is a different page from noon Egypt.
- Expired codes: when a code expires it leaves the list of live codes and moves to the “expired codes” section of the store page, so you don’t waste time on it.
- “Last checked”: this date appears only when one of our editors has checked the code personally. We never fill it in automatically. If you see no date, an editor hasn’t logged a check yet.
We don’t list product prices or promise a specific saving, because we don’t have those numbers. If you want to compare, check the product price on the store’s site before applying the code.
Affiliate disclosure
We may earn a commission from the store if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. It doesn’t change how we rank codes or what we write about their terms.
Before you decide a code doesn’t work
- Check the country the store is set to.
- Read the terms under the code on our page.
- Look at your basket: are there sale or excluded items in it?
- Check for a minimum basket.
- If the code is app-only, finish the order in the app.
- Use the “Copy code” button instead of typing the code.
If you’ve checked all of that and the code still fails, the store may have changed or paused it. The next step is to try another code on the same page, if there is one.
